Graphon games

چکیده
The study of strategic behavior in large scale networks via standard game theoretical methods is a challenging, if not intractable, task. In this paper, we propose a way to approximate games played over networks of increasing size, by using the graph limiting concept of graphon. To this end, we introduce the new class of graphon games for populations of infinite size. We investigate existence and uniqueness properties of the Nash equilibrium of graphon games and we derive upper bounds for the distance between the Nash equilibria of the infinite population graphon game and of finite population sampled network games. Finally, we derive a closed form expression for the Nash equilibrium of linear quadratic graphon games and we illustrate its relation to Bonacich centrality.

A Determinacy Approach to Borel Combinatorics
We introduce a new method, involving infinite games and Borel determinacy, which we use to answer several well-known questions in Borel combinatorics.
متن کاملStochastic blockmodel approximation of a graphon: Theory and consistent estimation
Non-parametric approaches for analyzing network data based on exchangeable graph models (ExGM) have recently gained interest. The key object that defines an ExGM is often referred to as a graphon. This non-parametric perspective on network modeling poses challenging questions on how to make inference on the graphon underlying observed network data. In this paper, we propose a computationally ef...
متن کاملThe Entropy of Random-Free Graphons and Properties
Every graphon defines a random graph on any given number n of vertices. It was known that the graphon is random-free if and only if the entropy of this random graph is subquadratic. We prove that for random-free graphons, this entropy can grow as fast as any subquadratic function. However, if the graphon belongs to the closure of a random-free graph property, then the entropy is O(n logn). We a...
متن کاملWeak regularity and finitely forcible graph limits
Graphons are analytic objects representing limits of convergent sequences of graphs. Lovász and Szegedy conjectured that every finitely forcible graphon, i.e. any graphon determined by finitely many subgraph densities, has a simple structure. In particular, one of their conjectures would imply that every finitely forcible graphon has a weak ε-regular partition with the number of parts bounded b...
متن کاملOn the computability of graphons
We investigate the relative computability of exchangeable binary relational data when presented in terms of the distribution of an invariant measure on graphs, or as a graphon in either L or the cut distance. We establish basic computable equivalences, and show that L representations contain fundamentally more computable information than the other representations, but that 0′ suffices to move b...
